Pay by Weight Update | Barna Recycling

As a member of the Irish Waste Management Association, Barna Recycling supports and will co-operate fully with the recent agreement with the Government to freeze the Pay by Weight system until the 1st of July 2017 for existing contract customers.

Please read below to see what this means for you, based on your customer type.

I am an existing household contract customer

Please note, this does not include customers who have been using bin bags and tags purchased through retail outlets.

Existing contract customers (i.e. customers who are currently under contract with Barna Recycling will be charged the same rate as they were charged for the last 6 months i.e. January – June 2016 and will experience no price change over the coming 12 months to the end of June 2017.

In January 2017, you will be presented with the option to move to the Pay By Weight system if you so wish.

I have been using Barna Recycling Bin Bags or Tags

Bin tags have now been discontinued.
Bin bags are no longer available via retailers.

Galway County Council

If you are living on or within 100 meters of a route serviced by a waste management company you are required to engage the services of a waste management company.

How do I find out if I am on or within 100 meters of serviced route?

I am not on a serviced route. What do I do?

If you are not on a serviceable route you can order Barna Recycling bin bags by calling 091 771619 or email household@barnarecycling.com.

I am on a serviced route but I not in a position to use Wheelie Bins to manage my waste. What do I do?

In some unique situations where you are living on a serviced route, you may still be able to use pre-paid bin bags but you must contact Galway County Council for permission. Please see contact details here.
