Pay By Weight Explained

The new Pay by Weight system for waste collection will encourage people to manage their waste more efficiently. It will promote better segregation of waste and lead to a decrease in the amount of household waste going to landfill.

More importantly, the Pay by Weight system will allow households determine their waste collection costs.

The more that is recycled and composted, the less the cost to the householder.

June Bank Holiday Weekend Collection Schedule

Barna Recycling would like to notify our customers of the following June Bank Holiday Weekend waste collection arrangements.

Galway City customers, your waste will be collected on Monday 2nd of June as normal.
Galway County customers, if your waste collection was scheduled for Monday 2nd June, your collection will now take place on Saturday 31st May instead – that’s Saturday 31st May.

Galway City customers, your waste will be collected on Monday 21st of April as normal.

Galway County customers, if your waste collection was scheduled for Monday 21st, your collection will now take place on Saturday 19th April instead.

Barna Recycling collections for Galway City Council customers has commenced

Since November 23rd 2013, we have been servicing your bins on behalf of Galway City Council. We hope you are happy with the service and look forward to managing your waste collection needs in 2014.

  • Galway City Council will be sending you their last bill in early January for any waste charges due for the last four months of 2013.
  • Barna Recycling will continue to collect your bins as normal from January 1st 2014
  • In late January you will receive your bill for €53.00 for the service charge for January 1st to April 30th.

New Pay By Weight System For Leitrim Waste Collection

New Leitrim County Council Waste Management Bye Laws Introduce Pay By Weight System for all Waste Collection in the County. As a result Barna Recycling Tags & Bags will no longer be available to customers from February 3rd 2014.

Agreement with Barna Recycling 20 November 2014

“Galway City Council today signed an agreement with Barna Recycling (formerly Barna Waste) for the provision of Household Waste Collection Services to all existing Galway City Council Customers.

Barna Recycling will commence household waste collection, initially on behalf of Galway City Council for a Transition Period, from Monday, 25th November until 31st December 2013.

Galway City Council will continue to manage existing customer accounts for the Transition Period. Barna Recycling will commence the management of existing customer accounts from the 1st of January 2014.
